The NYC Mayor’s Office for People with Disabilities (MOPD) and the Consortium for Customized Employment (CCE) honored Columbia University Irving Medical Center (CUIMC) and Contento at the 2022 Customized Employment Awards. At the virtual event were present Yannick Benjamin, Managing Director of Contento; and Tonya Richards, Equity and Inclusion Officer of CUIMC, along with representatives from AccesVR and New York State OPWDD.
Contento is an inclusive and accessible restaurant in Harlem. It was in the NY Times top 10 NYC restaurants of 2021. Columbia University IMC has collaborated with the Consortium since 2019. Both have been committed to the mission of inclusive employment for people with disabilities and have hired several job seekers with the assistance of the CCE.
